Roots
Raised in Searcy, Arkansas and moved to Texas
I grew up in Searcy, AR and I remember driving up to Greers Ferry Lake for "red-neck yacht club" in the summers. My parents divorced when I was 11 and when I was 14, my mother moved us to Dallas.
Ironically, my wife was also from a small town in Arkansas called Violet Hill. Anyway, after 33 years of marriage, two kids and four grandkids...there are definitely some life lessons and stories to be told.
What I believe about music
A good country song should feel like a memory you didn't know you had.
I write about real things — trucks and heartbreak and the way the light looks at five in the afternoon in October.
If it doesn't make you feel something, it isn't done yet.
